JUNE NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents,
When it gets to the June Newsletter, I actually wonder where the whole year has gone? It has gone by, one day at a time, and we find we are hardly ready to dismiss the students for summer vacation.
While summer is a time of rest and relaxation, we know that often students soon begin to wonder when school will begin again. Again this year, we are sending home the summer reading program folders very soon. You will see that each student is asked to read 5 books and complete two writing activities. The writing activities need to be well done as they will count as a major mark for the first 10 weeks in ELA. If these are attended to regularly in the summer, then a pattern of good working habits is formed. We encourage all to read as much as possible. I have been doing my own little "study" of students over the years and I have determined from my findings that those who read more than the suggested 25 books per year, actually have higher ELA scores than those who don't put forth the effort and barely meet the minimum standards. I only offer that as a small but interesting point of interest. Exposing themselves to different genres is also valuable. So, happy reading!
In July, you will receive a Newsletter with many forms. Please take the time to read the letter and fill in the forms you wish - for tuition assistance, for free and reduced lunches, etc. Please return the forms to school at your earliest convenience.
During the summer, the school office will be open T,W,Th from 7:30 am until 3:pm. Please call the school anytime - there may be people here at other times, too. The office will open M-F from 7:30am - 3 pm starting August 25th.
It's very easy to find Mass times on the Internet if you're traveling this summer. Just type: "Roman Catholic Mass times in ___________" and you might find some help.
Please have a safe, relaxing summer. Do not take a vacation from God. He is eager to welcome you, no matter where you go!
Know that you are in my prayers.
